DESCRIPTION:
Richard Shireby plays the c1890 Casson "positive" pipe organ in the church of St. Giles, Cheddington, Bucks.

These 3 1/2 octave single manual organs with no pedals were built to the highest quality with beautifully voiced pipework. Direct mechanical action mainly, but the manual 16' bass & the open diapason operate pneumatically & of course get the leather motors eaten by mice or of course simply rot away over time. This instrument is typical of one requiring full overhaul, but nevertheless still sounds delightful.

Sorry about the mistake in verse 3, but pressure of time didn't allow for a retake, as I tried to show off the different four ranks (plus 16' bass) in a meaningful way.

Hymn number 383 in "Mission Praise". Most versions of this have the first line "Jesu Thou Joy Of Loving Hearts"...but not Mission Praise!


Postscript April 2015. I have now bought & removed this organ from Cheddington church & it is now here in our storage facility awaiting workshop space for full overhaul & subsequent resale & installation into another church.
