Sonar Circle "Susejo" [Reinforced Records] - Video

DESCRIPTION:
This is my favourite track on 'Radius'. If you listen to the start really loud, you can hear that the atmosphere is all created from a kick with lots of reverb pitched down, and will shake with bass around your headphones. The idea was to have a kick and snare progressively having less space between them as the intro picked up pace to become the beat. This meant that they had to have a lot of reverb on, but be triggered at smaller intervals to seem like they were catching up with themselves. Even if I didn't complete the idea fully, it is a great audio effect.

The main break here is from the 'Funky Soundtracks' LP (Fat Poppadaddy rings a bell?), but it was famous from a massive Roni Size tune around that time which seemed to subtract credibility from my track, but was a track I had managed to not hear at the time amazingly, so didn't care. Tons of noises I can't recall their origins, some strings I sampled from a De Wolfe string library record I used loads and loads, purchased from Oxfam Records in Hyde Park, Leeds as my wife was studying there.

Another thing about this tune was the name. A friend pointed out it was 'O'Jesus' backwards, and did that mean anything. Unfortunately not, as it was a Star Wars reference, from a story about Boba Fett's escape from the Sarlaac Pitt. Susejo was some poor soul who had been trapped down there forever who drove Fett made, pushing him to escape. The character could have been some sublte Devil/Jesus reference, but I didn't really care. All I wanted to know was that Boba escaped 'Return Of The Jedi' alive and ready to kick ass another day.
