This is a redux of an old video: http://youtu.be/epAZl0UwpnI

This record album deserves more attention than the original post which was just to show this uniqueness of the set. I bought it at a flea market in Cumming, GA.- and I'm embarrassed to say that I paid $20 for it. Normally I don't pay that much for flea market 78s, but I knew this was out of the ordinary, so I forked over the bucks just to have something unusual in my collection.

These 78rpm album sets were only produced for three years. The new lightweight pickups required to play them was too expensive for many people to upgrade their audio systems, so the venture into vinyl record production for RCA wasn't as successful as it could have been despite the higher quality of the records.

RCA continued using red vinyl for classical records when the 45rpm record hit the market- in fact, they had a whole color code according to the genre of the music: green for country, blue for popular, and yellow for children's records.

Red Seal Deluxe album sets show up from time to time on ebay, and after looking at the prices I really don't think that $20 was all that outrageous.
