RED HILL is an all new Metal band from Pennsylvania.

They have obtained a heavy yet melodic sound that both punishing and pleasing. Combining thrash metal riffs, melodic choruses and brutal breakdowns, they utilize speed as well as groove to create a style of their own.

RED HILL has played many shows to date and have generated a lot of fans. We’ve been exposed in NY, Mass, PA and NJ. Our primary focuses early on were North Jersey, NYC and Philly. Our fourth show was the Hellfest battle @ Krome. Out of 50 bands we placed 8th, with no fan-base. Our music definitely speaks for itself. Our live show is intense to say the least, and no matter what stage or situation we have always risen to the challenge. We are extremely hungry for more fans and good venues, and want nothing more than to spread our music and be heard.

BIOGRAPHY

Red Hill began in 2002 when Don Barnes and Rick Maldonado crossed paths at a local bar. Introduced through a mutual friend, they discussed music only to find they had similar tastes, and they were both musicians. Now, Don had been a trained drummer for almost 9 years and had played with many musicians in his area but due to theft, his drumset was stolen and he hadn’t graced a kit in over a year. Rick is the former Eyes Of The Blind guitarist, which in that band had played many shows and shared stages with national acts. Eyes of the Blind broke up due to social issues within the band which we won’t discuss, and Rick was left to find a more stable situation. Seeing the potential in Don he decides he wants to start a new band with him and try again. Doing everything within their power they pull together a half decent kit and begin to jam.

Realizing that they both were working well together, they begin the search for the remaining members. Don had a few parties around this time, and through one of these events he stumbles across an amazing guitar player. Enter Rob McElroy. Rob had been currently playing in a band called This Life Saddens, and had also played in a few other bands including Fear Of Falling and Ascyria. Rob and Don hung out a few times and discuss forming the band and Rob decides to give it a go as a side project. Which soon becomes much more. Rick is stunned by Robs abilities and realizes that this band has a real shot at going pro. They begin to write a few songs in Don’s house, and search for a bassist and a singer.

They move down the street to a local studio for a more comfortable setting to rehearse. Here they find Jared. Since Jared was an engineer at the studio, he was able to listen in on them, and was shocked to find an awesome metal band forming right beneath his nose. Quickly he intoduces himself and sets up an audition. Jared takes home a cd of what they had written so far and lays down some vocals on it to show not only his voice, but his mixing skills as well. The track was “stalemate”, and has changed little to this day. Jared is now the singer and utilizes many aspects of singing including screaming, singing, harmonizing, and spoken word. And his lyrics are anything but typical, he’s a well rounded writer who speaks of inner feelings within him/within us all, current events/inevitable events, and experiences.

It is time to pick a name. They decide to name the band RED HILL. After long disputes over many possibilities RED HILL was the choice since it sounded good, and it was the original name of the town the band was formed in. The roots of our roots if you will.

They soon later release a 4 song e.p. titled “Scorched Earth Policy”. With bass tracks laid down by a friend Chris Graham (who had been jamming with red hill for a while), unfortunately he was unable to join as a permanent member due to his career. So they are on a mission for a bassist.

They are introduced to Damiano Testa through a friend and come to find another amazing musician that hadn’t played in a while. But worry not cause Damiano stepped up to the plate and rehearsed his ass off, found his groove and began to learn the material.

Unfortunately. Red Hill did not succeed in the music industry. They played hundreds of shows, and shared stages with great bands like, Hell Within, Agents of Man, Frozen. Carnivore, Vext, Undercut, Ninetail, Mermaid in a Manhole, X-Ray Cat, Fire Set Birth, Rid of Waste, Loss of Breath, The Human Abstract, and many more. but the loss of many members lead the band to take a new path.
