DESCRIPTION:
We went to Grandmaster Recorders in Hollywood to record the 10-piece LA-based instrumental band Katalyst with engineer and Focusrite RedNet product specialist Matt Pliskin, and renowned producer/musician Mark de Clive Lowe. The band's sophisticated lineup includes drums, bass, guitar, two keyboard players - one of them playing piano in this case - tenor sax, alto sax, trumpet, trombone and a sousaphone player who also played a Novation Bass Station synth with his free hand on this recording.

With a lineup like this, Matt wanted to record the band live, which meant as many as 40 inputs. With Focusrite's new Red 8Pre as the audio interface connected direct to Pro Tools | HD, he was able to expand the input side with Focusrite's RedNet units thanks to the Red's Dante audio-over-IP connectivity - as well as distributing custom headphone mixes.
