Red Deer Bone Flute, 2013 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 21, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
The deer-bone flute played in this video is the first one I've made and it turned out pretty well. It's in a key somewhere between F and F# and tuned to a diatonic scale. It's made from the leg-bone of a Red Deer. When deer are bred and slaughtered for meat, the leg bones, hides and much else besides are just thrown away. What a shameful waste. At least this one, roadkill donated to me by Elaine Wildways, will now sing again. I want to make more, so if you know of a source for Red Deer leg-bones, please let me know. The tunes are improvised, based on what the flute wanted to say. The sound heard at the end of the video is, naturally, the belling of a Red Deer stag. Blessings to all, Greywolf.
