PENCILCASE stay the course of their very own version and vision of contemporary straight forward Rock'nRoll music, naming bands such as the Foo Fighters, Audioslave or Puddle of Mudd as their inspiration. Their attitude „we do take our music seriously.ourselves not so much" and the roundabout 400 gigs including support-shows for Samiam (USA), Dog eat Dog (USA), has led for PENCILCASE to being a very much demanded Liveband, in Germany as well as abroad.
This coming November 18th, 2011, PENCILCASE will be releasing their second studio album entitled KANSAS CITY SHUFFLE "YOU GO LEFT. WHEN EVERYONE LOOKS RIGHT. THAT'S THE KANSAS CITY SHUFFLE." – Reciting the spirit of Mr.Goodkat's quote from the iconic gangster thriller "Lucky # Slevin", the intelligently arranged songs on the new album are rich in variety and make for PENCILCASE to keeping an individual musical profile. The lyrics on KANSAS CITY SHUFFLE review issues such as freedom of mind, friendship, clarity, tolerance and self-confidence from variuos perspectives. Producer Tom Bräutigam (sucellos audio) states:"Whilst songs like the rolling HOW TO SHIT IN THE WOODS and HOWARD THE COWARD with its clashing wall of guitars signify musical directness, the up-tempo number FREAKS, SPINNING(YOUR LIGHTS ROUND) with it's overdrive guitar riff and the stirring title song KANSAS CITY SHUFFLE invite the listener to rock out". As early as 2008, when PENCILCASE released their album SWINGCORE through CargoRecords, specialized press representatives attested the band to have balls and the singles YOUR MOUTH & BELIEF eventually found their way into the rotation of numerous national radio stations. PENCILCASE's very own punk-rock interpretation of the Guns'N'Roses-classic YOU COULD BE MINE was at first exclusively released in Japan on the reknowned PUNK IT-Sampler (Imperial Records, Japan) and since has found its' way on to various samplers throughout Europe. The 2006 line-up of PENCILCASE contributed 3 songs (including the title song) to the Atari PC game CRASHDAY(Moonbite/Atari) and performed at the WDR Rockpalast.
With KANSAS CITY SHUFFLE the four piece from Aachen, Germany subsequently continues their discography, delivering an authentic, melodic and straight forward rock album."So move your feet to the beat of the kansas city shuffle."
