WELCOME TO BORDERLAND
With their latest record the Bovver Boys are going to have a name for playing Melodic Working Class Punkrock.
Influenced by British Oi! and Streetpunkbands from the early 80's such as the Ejected and the 4-Skins and also by 77s Punk like Chelsea and Sham 69 the five Boys have developed their own style that makes them rather different from other Oi! and Streetpunkbands.
English lyrics and singalongs with a shot of Rock nRoll are far from being German business as usual.
Once called Germany's most pleasant streetpunkband by a record review, the band was founded by Rainer (bass) Steve (guitar/vocals) and Tom (drums) in 1992.
With Egger entering the band in 1997as second guitarplayer their sound has become even more poweful and their arrangements more varied so that their own style has become clearer and clearer. In spring 2001 their drinking mate Harti joined them and has added the Rock nRoll part due to having his roots in the Rock nRoll and Psychobilly scene.
He is still performing as lead guitarplayer with the Psycho legends Phantom Rockers for their European shows, his other bands: the 1s and the Torpedo Twisters gave him his Punkrock background.
Since then Steve has dedicated himself totally to singing and performing on stage.
In spring 2002 the band took a break in order to take care of their offspring and to redefine themselves.
As folks could not wait to see them again they played a reunion show in Aachens legendary Wild Rover in late 2004 which had a record attendance.
Now the Bovver Boys have started playing well-chosen shows and festivals again and are in better shape than ever.
Having been together as a band for over 13 years now they played countless shows in all over Germany and abroad.
They were on stage with U.S. Bombs, Cocks Sparrer, Cockney Rejects,
The Boys lyrics deal with everyday working class aspects of life such as sex, beer and Rock nRoll or for instance sex and beer.
The Bovver Boys consider themselves as a band for Punks, Skins and other working-class subcultures; they play real music for real people and are not just another fashion victim.
They prefer playing in front of a varied audience and are constantly trying to give their very best on stage as well at the bar.
