I'm a big fan of Proco RAT. And since the Rattler is based on the vintage one so I give it a try and my verdict is Rattler nails the vintage RAT persona with a touch of it's own character. Dare I say smoother and spongier sounding than the original. I use it with both single coil and humbucker and Rattler deliver a delightful response for each pickup. The gain knob is pretty sensitive above noon where it starts to transform the overall sound from open bashing overdrive to growly distortion. The bottom line is, as a fan of the classic black box grunge distortion I think the Rattler is a beautiful tribute for its predecessor.
