REVIEWS - “ have just about gone and made The Great Lost Power Pop Album we’ve all been waiting for ever since, oh, your most beloved Ramones or Teenage Fanclub platter at least . “

“ We want to be the polar opposite of the complaint-rock that has ruled the airwaves for the past decade “ – Raquel’s Boys bandleader Sean Hutton

“ The album is amazing, but the band really shines during their live performances. Sean Hutton, lead singer/guitar, overflows with superenergetic stage presence, and the whole band proves that they're not just a studio machine, but really talented musicians who obviously love what they do. “

“ One of the best albums you may have missed in 2005 was made by Vermont’s latest phenomenal pop combo, the men with the mojo themselves , yes, I virtually speak of none other than Raquel’s Boys, and their Music For The Girl You Love. Well, that was then, but NOW they’ve just recorded their very second long-player, The Spy Business, and it just may be every bit as clandestinely coooool as their first outing was, and forever shall be: “Orange Soda” – appearing very soon indeed on JAM Recordings’ next This Is Rock ‘n’ Roll Radio comp -- takes Teenage Fanclub down to the local Dairy Queen and then some. Still, your ears, like mine, may find themselves most drawn to an uncharacteristically Raquelian sweet and even soft trio of tracks (“Pupils,” “Only Kisses,” and “Pal”) which are as delightfully delicate musically as they are intriguing lyrically. Such nice li’l totally disarming charmers they are “- Gary Pig Gold www.lostinthegrooves.com[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]

“ Raquel's Boys "The Spy Business" There's nobody in this band named Raquel. Just three guys (Sean Hutton, Greg Benson and Jeb Interlandi), who play pop music as if nothing else matters. Guided by bouncy melodies, throbbing bass lines and great tunes in general, "The Spy Business" is indeed an accomplished effort. One of my many favorite songs on the album is "Undercover," which bubbles and vibrates with nifty new wave influences. The keyboards zoom and the tempos are skittish. Crunchy guitar licks, accompanied by an endless supply of energy and enthusiasm, "Orange Soda," "Let's Live" and the title cut of the disc are additional keepers to be had. Roping together the punchy power pop prowess of The Smithereens and Material Issue with slivers of jagged sixties styled garage rock, "The Spy Business" snaps and crackles with consistently excellent performances.” – Beverly Paterson – Twist And Shake Magazine******************************************************************************************************************************

“ Super fun pop record … jam records’ Jeremy Morris provided the production and adds lots of reverb and echo , which effectively contrasts with the sugary sweet melodies , sugary sweet fitting Sean Hutton's innocent and light vocals . early on the band shows that something special is going on here .” - Mike Bennett – Fukin.com[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][

“ A wonderfully charming disc, filled with songs that can sort of be characterized as what 60’s pop songs would sound like if done by an 80’s college radio band …carefree musical and lyrical themes …VERY COOL STUFF ! “ - David Bash – Journalist and founder of The International Pop Overthrow Festival

“ Classics abound , like “ please thrill me “ , “ elevator ride “ , the finger- snappin’ “ somebody loves you girl “ , the psychedelic title track and “ knockout “ , which is a Should-be-hit for the ages . an impressive beginning for a band who somehow seem like they’ve always been with us . -David Bash – amplifier magazine**************************************************************************************************************************

on Raquel's Boys new album: MONDO FUN

While we have lots of faves and influences the sound is really our own, The VIBE OF THE MOMENT, SPONTANEOUS EMOTION FLOWING THROUGH OUR FINGERS or SOMETHING THAT POPPED INTO SONGWRITER SEAN'S HEAD. There are elements of 60's pop, bubblegum, 50's rock and roll and early glam because we love these styles but we're not about trying to cop anyone else's sound. We have fun making music and we just crank it up and play. It's cool when people dig our style, but we'd be doing the same thing even if they didn't. This album is about us being ourselves - no 2nd guessing, no self-consciousness, no concern for "the music business"

Yeah, just being yourself - that's the message, bay-bay!

BIG THANKS TO OUR AUDIENCE OF CHAMPIONS, WE LOVE YOU ! ! !

WE'RE ON A HOPPED-UP PLEASURE CAMPAIGN to make Rock and Roll a FUN EXPERIENCE!
