CHORO NASHVILLE performs virtuoso instrumental music from Brazil, on unusual stringed instruments, woodwinds and percussion.

"Choro" or "chorinho" originated in Brazil in the late 19th century, and lives on today as a musical style that influences much of Brazil's best known music. It's often compared to American ragtime music, with a mixture of improvisation and composition played to an energetic and syncopated rhythm.

Choro has been called "classical music played with bare feet, calloused hands and beer."
