WITH LOVE, FROM NORMANDY - Video

DESCRIPTION:
My friend, Ronnie Davis (grassrootsgospel on YouTube) sent me this song. It really touched my heart. We can't tell the stories of our "Greatest Generation" or thank them enough for the tremendous sacrifice they made on our behalf. Since they are now dying at over 1,000 each day, it won't be long before they will have all gone Home ...please remember them and their sacrifice.

WITH LOVE FROM NORMANDY KEY OF C

One day in Grandmas attic
I came across a dusty box
Layin on a wrinkled uniform
And some old brown Army socks
The words were worn and faded
It said, Old Havana Brand
The rubber band was brittle
And it broke right in my hand.

My body started shakin
When I saw what lay inside
A letter from my Grandpa
The day before he died
I had heard the story
Grandma told us about the war
The postmark just said,
Normandy, 1944

And it read, I will always love you
I miss you more and more
The freedom for our children
is a thing worth fighting for
And if I should die tomorrow,
Please dont weep for me
Just tell our childrens children
Why theyre livin free
With love from, Normandy.

I held the letter to my breast
Tears began to fall
Rememberin the soldiers
Who sacrificed their all
Oh, thank God for freedom
For home and family
In the letter not forgotten
Love, from Normandy

It was another generation
In a half a world away
But the words in Grandpas letter
Still ring true today,

Oh, I will always love you,
I miss you more and more.
Freedom for our children
Is a thing worth fighting for.
And if I should die tomorrow,
Please dont weep for me.
Just tell our childrens children
Why theyre livin free.
With love from, Normandy
