BIOGRAPHY

Prospect is one of those bands, that will follow their path forever. Play heavy metal!

Don’t take them as a band that produces same music all the time, because Prospect is just not one of them. It’s about creativity and the love to heavy metal. They are well educated musicians that live to play and make music. Music is their priority. This is kind of a band that wouldn’t care of musical trends. Their lives are about heavy metal.

Prospect started in the end of the 90’s as a trio. It was amazing to hear Slovenian band for the first time to play real heavy metal, with no mistakes. Even in the early Prospect times everything had to work. Prospects mastermind Roman Fileš is a very precise person and so is their music. Prospect recorded and released their first album “Nr.1” in 1999. With this album they showed not only their potential in progressive heavy metal, but also lined first confirmations for knowing a lot of traditional and power heavy metal. Prospect have never sounded European. Their sound and ideas come mainly from their western influences, but they were turning towards their Balkan roots since always, as this is in their blood and genes.

Prospect played over 50 shows to promote the album. The expectations for the next album were great. They were much more experienced, and they entered much better and professional studio than the first time. “Moments” was recorded in 2004 with lots of enthusiasm and a need to create the Slovenian heavy metal at its best.

“Moments” was released right at the crossroad for metal breakthrough in Slovenia. The record is important product of a Slovenian metal culture. “Moments” was very prog oriented - amazing guitar work with perfect rhythm work created good atmosphere that flowed from different styles. Queensryche, Fates warning, Dream Theater and Iron Maiden were most obvious influences for this album. Roman Fileš was crazy about bands like Symphony X, the singer was all time Deep purple/Dream Theater fan and the keyboardist Rok Plestenjak, has the background of great 70s Elp/Yes style, and he even progressed his work to a higher-modern level. The bass in drum rhythm work was another important aspect in Prospect. Žele Jokic and Peter Mlinar produce a very good ground where guitar and voice have their space.

“Moments” was quite a selling success. The record was distributed worldwide; the results from the press were very good. Prospect were very active live to promote this album. They toured as a support group with Paul Dianno in 2002. Last two years were important in Prospect carrier as they played Metalcamp festival in 2004 with Danzig and others and then later in 2005 when they shared stage with Slayer and other bands. In 2004 they toured 16 European dates on a legendary “Bonded by metal” tour with Exodus, Agent steel, Mortitian and Nuclear Assault. This was great as Prospect was quite a new band at the moment. They had new songs done with new singer Robert Grdic. The tour was a great experience for the band. But that was not all at all!

In 2005 Prospect got the offer to support the best Progressive band of all times, Queensryche. They toured Austria together, and this was a special experience for sure.

Later Prospect toured again, this time with German heavy metal combo Helloween.

After that it was time to get the band in a studio again. It took about a year to finish the new album, “My Number”. All we wait now is the mixing and mastering, and the record will be out.

Prospect also finished recording of a first video for a new album “My Number”. The title track was chosen as the first video and single.
