"Cocooning" Marco Benvento, Bobby Previte, Steven Bernstein & DJ Olive - Sullivan Hall, NYC - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 04, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
xclusive Digital Bonus Footage (not available on the DVD) from Marco Benevento's first-ever DVD release: "Marco Benevento & Friends - LIve in NYC : The Sullivan Hall Residency".

This track comes from the opening night of the 5-week residency, a night following closely on the heels of New Years and with the temperatures in the sub-zero range. Both these factors led to this opening evening being the most spacious of the five -- both in sonic and physical terms. The lucky few that did attend were treated to some of the wild rapids of Marco's free jazz tendencies, backed up by the incomparable Steven Bernstein on horns and Bobby Previte on drums, with DJ Olive contributing to the atmosphere through turn-tables.

"Cocooining" is so named because of the delicious plateau these musicians hit during this improvisation -- while the rest of New York is at home cocooning, staying warm and recovering, these four take treat in attendance to a warm, delicious lullabye to usher in the third evening of 2008. The successive Thursdays will offer marked contrasts from this night, heavy on jazz and unabashed in its musical explorations.

You can order the DVD direct from Marco's website, or else at Amazon.com. It features some of the most respected players in New York, including Billy Martin (MMW), Brad Barr (The Slip), Kaki King, Joe Russo, Andrew Barr, Stanton Moore (Galactic), Marc Friedman, Skerik, and many more...
