PRESTEGE

Born May 5th, 1982, Matthew "Prestege" London was brought up in North York, Ontario Canada. As a youngster, he would listen to Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, and Aretha Franklin only to name a few artists being played by his mother Claire in his household. It is at this time Prestege developed a passion for music. It's this same passion that enabled him to enjoy all walks of music from Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG to The Beetles.
As Prestege was a bit rebellious himself, his interest for Hip Hop music overshadowed the different genres. He began rapping at the age of thirteen where he then moved on to creating a name for himself by performing at neighborhood talent shows. At the age of fifteen Prestege focused more on song writing with clever punchlines and wordplay which lead him to win 2nd place in his first talent contest.
Still trying to find himself in his teenage years, Prestege had his fist run in with the law at sixteen for marijuana which got him two weeks in the Toronto East Detention. Prestege then realized that he had to make smarter choices and keep sight on his rapping talent. His love for creating music combined with his energetic performance and superb flow earned him the status as one of the best underground rap artists in Toronto.
With his confidence through the roof and all of his accomplishments leading up to that point, Prestege went in overdrive and focused more professionally on his craft at the age of twenty-four. Soon thereafter, teaming up with producer Dub J and local rap artist Promise(who was a childhood friend), Prestege created a portfolio of incredible tracks which earned him street credibility.
Just like Maestro Fresh Wes and Drake, Prestege is very determined to help with the movement of making Toronto emcees be the focus of the world. By having collaborations with the famous American R&B singer/songwriter Montell Jordan, west coast rapper Glasses Malone of Yung Money, Mr. Probz, and Grafh already under his belt, Prestege is certainly the artist to be on the look out for. As an intelligent rhymester Prestege intends to overcome obstacles and kick down doors in the rap music industry. The release of his second solo mixtape entitled "A Diamond In the Rough", is only a sample of what's yet to come from the gifted young rapper.
Prestege knows you only get one chance to make a first impression so he won't disappoint himself or his fans. Undeniably, Prestege's solo debut album is bound to take Canadian hip hop on a voyage to prestigious standards and new heights upon it's release.
