How many people do you know stay up for days on end… to work? I doubt any. That is what makes Dub J the hard working record producer that he is. With countless hours spent mastering his craft, it’s hard not to achieve success at the level that he has.

The versatility found in Dub J’s beats allows him to appeal to a broader audience than most. Though predominantly catering to a commercialized Hip Hop and R&B sound, he is known to often times switch up his style and expands his talents into the club, ballad, and grimy genres of music.

Dub J began seriously producing in 1998, but his involvement with Hip Hop started long before. He began DJ’ing in 1993, going on to release 17 volumes of mixed tapes. His releases earned him a strong reputation, and earned him exclusives from heavyweight artists such as KRS-1, Rahzel, Nas, Choclair, Saukrates, Michee Mee, The Rascalz, and more.

Dub J took producing one step further when he went on to produce songs for Juno award winning vocalists LaToya and Miranda, as well as east coast rapper Classified’s albums, Unpredictable, and Union Dues. “.one out of the two best beats on the album.” -Exclaim Magazine; in reference to Dub J’s cut on Classified’s Union Dues.

In 2001, after developing a loyal internet fan base, Dub J once again took several steps forward as his Q It Up Records studio began to see many of Canada’s top Urban acts; Dan-E-O and Charisma of the Mighty Monolith, LaToya and Miranda, and 106 and Park Freestyle Friday Champ, Bishop just to name a few.

Dub J’s beats were slowly being exposed to the industry south of the border, which led to Lady Death Strike and Knocturnal (DNA) of New Jersey flying up to the Q It Up Studio to finish a week long project, which in turn resulted in a review in XXL magazine. Another rapper from down south eager to get on a Dub J beat was Cleveland’s Originaal.

In mid 2001, Dub J hooked up with the Street Dreamerz from Detroit. He went on to produce their Street Dreamerz LP, while they placed third in P. Diddy’s reality television show, Making The Band.

Fast forward to 2005, a year where Dub J made his mark on Canadian commercial radio waves with hits such as the Agony Remix by Sumeet featuring Elephant Man and Broadway, Get ‘Em In Line by Broadway, Answers and The Movement by Titus, and Take Me Home by JD Era featuring Sumeet, which climbed as high as 4th on Toronto’s Flow 93.5’s Top 8 @ 8.

Through much work with Dub J, Sumeet was able to break into the American market, as she has settled down in New York, where she’s reaching success on a global scale. Her single, Agony featuring Elephant Man has received licensing overseas in Italy, thanks to Insomnia Promo. The single was released on July 13th, 2004 with worldwide distribution, and has since been sold out.

2005 also saw Dub J collaborating with underground California legend, Nutt-So. Nutt-So flew out to Canada to have Dub J produce his album’s title track, Fastlane Legacy. The album also features original collaborations with 2Pac, The Outlawz, B-Legit, Spice1 and others.

Staying in the California swing of things, Dub J also hooked up with The Originators of G-Funk, the legendary Above The Law. You may know Above The Law as the group who brought the likes of Nate Dogg and Warren G to the forefront of Urban music. Dub J will be the only producer to have produced for the group since the unfortunate incarceration of ATL member, Big Hutch.

Dub J’s resume is rapidly growing, as is his popularity. His website, QItUpRecords.com, has received well over 7 million hits since May of 2004, and visits are increasing gradually. One of his website’s most popular features proved to be his beat making tutorial videos, which to this day can be found all over the world wide web on such high-traffic websites as futureproducers.com, rapmusic.com, alchemistbeats.com, hiphopcanada.com, and homerecording.com just to name a few.

Watch out for Dub J’s production on upcoming releases from artists such as Bishop Brigante, Ken Masters, Hydro, Syndicate, Broadway, JD Era, Masia One, and many more.

Also, in December of 2005, Dub J has released the Dub J - Love 2 Hate Series Volume One album. The album features nearly 50 songs he has produced featuring some of North America’s biggest and best.
