The swedish alternative rock band Pound was formed in 2004 in the town of Borlänge, located somewhere near the middle of Sweden. The band consists of Stefan Altzar (guitars & lead vocals), Christian Larsson (bass & vocals), Samuel Granath (drums), Janne Korpela (guitars) and Kalle Sandström (keyboards & vocals).Pound was created when themembers of the pop/rock band Universal Puppies (Stefan
Altzar, Janne Korpela, MikaItärana and Martin Haglund) felt they wanted to put a harder edge to their music but still keep the great pop melodies.
In 2005 they released their first EP "Phantom killer" which received great reviews. The music was heavier than before but Stefan was still the main songwriter and the great melodies were still present.

A few months after the release of "Phantom Killer", Martin and Mika decided to leave the band to play full time with their other band Astral Doors. Fortunately, during this time Stefan had gotten in touch and played with drummer Samuel Granath who was asked to join the band. Samuel in his turn had recently played with bass player Christian Larsson who was introduced to the other guys. After a jam full of good vibes, Chris joined the band.

The band began to work intensively on writing and recording songs and also performed live on several different locations in Sweden. Pound began planning on the making of its first full length record and needed a suitable producer. This producer turned out to be the famous American rock singer Tony Harnell (ex. TNT), who was asked to produce the album. Harnell accepted and Pound's first full-length album "Stardust, lies and holy water" was released in april 2009. The album was
later released in both Germany and Japan.

After the release of the debut album Karl Sandström joined the
band on keyboards and the band continued doing gigs in Sweden
and also a tour in Germany/Switzerland in the spring of 2011.
The band has also released a 5-track EP with the title
"Desillusionizer".

Pound is currently working on their next full length album which
the band says will be more dynamic and a bit more experimental
then their first album. No release date has been set for the
album yet.
