For such a young up-and-coming band, Plastica. has already been all over the place.
Started as a school band in Perm in 2001, Plastica. has already won competitions in Russia, played the huge Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, moved to London, got signed twice by independent labels Clown Records and Wretched Recordings, released the two singles “Not A Fate” and “Stay With Me,” been played by many famous radio stations across Europe, including BBC Radio One, and gigged intensively in the UK.
But long story short: after many good and not-so-good experiences in England, the band finally settles in Prague, in the Czech Republic, and takes a fresh start. New city, new music and new line-up. Plastica. now consists of Tanya on drums, Ilya on guitar, and Xavier on bass. Full of enthusiasm and energy, the band is currently quite busy rehearsing, writing, recording, and playing every single club in the city, already gathering a loyal following.
Musically, Plastica. is a subtle combination of driving but not obvious rhythms, clever guitar and bass interplay, intricate vocal harmonies, beautiful melodies, and extra touches of synths and effects. You could call that intelligent indie rock with a twist of electronica. But that would be limiting.
Lyrically, Plastica. is not really happy, but still happy about being sad. We sing about broken relationships, daily struggles, optimism turned sour, cynicism turned sweet, and heartbreaking beauty that surprises you in the midst of adversity. We think you can relate.
