Would It Kill You PJ Steelman - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 05, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
This is a new song, not on an album, yet, but, it will be shortly. The vid was shot at the NSW festival in Nashville in June of 2009.

You really don't need the story behind the song to understand what it is all about, but, I feel compelled to tell you about the situation, anyway.

Some time back, I was in a restaurant with some friends enjoying a good meal. A table or two away from us sat a young couple. They were having one of those heated, animated, WHISPERED conversations. We tried to ignore them and go on enjoying our meal and having a good time, but, their whispers grew louder and louder. They were difficult to ignore. All of a sudden the young lady said out loud to her gentleman friend...Would it kill you to love me?

For all of the songwriters that are reading this, you know, I mean you absolutely know when you have heard a good song idea. Yes, I know, I am writing a song about these folk's misfortunes, but, it is their fault entirely for having their argument within my hearing range. I have decided at this point in life, that everyone and everything is fair game for a good song.

Well, I jotted down a few thoughts on a napkin to hold me over until I could get to a place where I could put the song together. Except for a few changes, this is exactly how I wrote it on the first go round. That doesn't happen often, most good songs are like pulling teeth...or maybe getting run over by Bubba Smith. Neither one of those events will turn out to be a good time.

My song doesn't follow the couple at the restaurant, I came up with a different story line. This could be about anyone, you or me. And unless you have married your high school sweet heart and have lived happily ever after, well, more than likely you have probably been in this very place....and like some of us, maybe more than once. I hope you enjoy this one....
