RedefineHipHop: Duro Wick (Chicago Hip Hop Pioneer) Part 1 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 21, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
Duro Wicks is a name you may have never heard of. However, when it comes to the history of Chicago Hip Hop, particularly it's productive and flourishing 90s era, the story can't be told with his inclusion...on multiple levels.

Thru his Big Lips Productions showcases he not only created some of the most memorable Hip Hop events in the 90s Chicago Hip Hop scene, he also laid the foundation to some the most prominent networking locations at those same parties. As Shame Love Tempo, he rocked many mic and show with his group, He Who Walks Three Ways. He helped document Chicago's history thru his journalistic contributions in the short-lived, but influential and seminal Hip Hop Publication, The Fly Paper. In those pages, his column "No Problemo, Play Your Demo" gave readers a opportunity to read about some of the key and/or most underground figures of the rising scene. When the late 90s rolled around he had become very well equipped and skilled with a sampler; first with his "1000" Concept Project (featuring Juice, Larry Milla, Nemesis, Grav, etc...). Then continuing on, even up to to date with his DeeAreYouOh and "What's His Name?" production projects.

In this interview he humbly, honestly, and even reluctantly discusses his amazing journey and contributions to this Culture.

Part One as he discusses discovering Hip Hop, Big Lip Productions, The Fly Paper, He Who Walks Three Ways, and the legendary parties at Lower Links
