Picked up this treasure while on holiday in Maui, Hawaii. Recorded 1937, released early 1938. Kalala ('Clara') Haili, a.k.a. 'Hilo Hattie,' a full-blooded Hawaiian, joined the Royal Hawaiian (Hotel) Girls Glee Club in 1936 and went on to international fame as an entertainer on stage and film. A gifted mimic, she here demonstrates her command of Pidgin English, 'Hawaii's Second Language.'
