http://hereonout.ca/donations I met Alex when he performed at the Nuit Blanche concert and we talked about doing a session, he seemed really interested in the project and I loved his music so I guess it was meant to be.

After shooting the session I had one of the most interesting conversations with Alex about how music came into his life and how it has shaped him into who he is today. Music literally takes up all his time, and it's comforting to know that it's time well spent. The intricate finger picking and his way of singing definitely places his music among some of the best music I've heard in a long time. This sessions made me put what I am doing with this project into perspective. I know I started Here On Out because music has always been the most important thing in my life, but it also made me realize how close I could get with the artists.

My conversation with Alex has made me recognize why I started this project. I love meeting new people and listening to their stories. Where they have lived and why they chose to settle in Montreal. I love the melodies and the lyrics, their meanings and their back-stories.

I know that not one story will ever be the same, there's just so many out there, and I want to share them all.
