...for my Dad & my Mom, & in memory of my Mom's parents—my Oma & Opa (Obermaier). My parents have always been supportive of my music, but mostly from afar; they're not crazy for my Jazz, my Classical, or even my Rock/Pop playing, but I am confident that they will like this. My grandparents were legal immigrants who came here from Bavaria (the Chiemsee region) in the early 1930's--who worked at menial jobs here for over 40 years, sacrificing so much of themselves just so that we would have a better life. I have incredibly fond childhood memories of them—things that as a kid I took for granted & thought would never end. I miss them tremendously & owe so much of who I am & all the opportunities that I have been given, to them; I am eternally grateful & will not ever forget how I came to be American or where my roots are from.

A number of years back, my cousin Karl (also a trumpet player) & I were asked to perform at a 'Bauern Messe' (Bavarian-style Farmer's Mass). While searching for what music to play, my father--who is also a musician & very knowledgeable in Bayrische Volksmusik—suggested this piece. So I transcribed it for 2 trumpets off of a cassette tape that he had, & we used it--but unfortunately I never wrote down the actual name of it. If anyone does know the true name of it, I would be interested to learn it & would appreciate any such correspondence.

For this slide-video, I used photos (& in no particular sequence) that I borrowed from 'Google-Images'—of Bavaria (Germany), Tirol (Austria), Sud-Tirol (Northern-Italy), & Switzerland. I think that this Alpine region (mainly agricultural—hence all the slides with cows!) is possibly one of the most stunningly picturesque areas of the entire world--& I pray that it remains that way, despite 'progress'.
