Introducing the Hooligan EP

Hooligan EP Released and Available

Our new album, Hooligan EP, is now available through CD Baby and iTunes! Many of the songs on the EP are hard-hitting and punk-driven, like the title track Hooligan (listen above). The other songs are Coward, A Man Apart, Don't Give Up, Cracked and Scarred, and Ancient Streets (also above).

Through CD Baby, our CD is available via SuperD. So tell your local record store that's where they can go get it! Also, our music is coming soon to Rhapsody (that's right - straight to your mobile)!!!

Permanent Ascent

The Grunk Rock Hooligans

Permanent Ascent's sound originated from a hypothetical. What if Grunge and Punk got together, frisky in the spring, and parented an illegitimate child who looked suspiciously like good old fashioned Rock and Roll? Notwithstanding the fact that Punk and Grunge would probably get in a huge throwdown, and end up dragging Rock and Roll into an uncomfortable Jerry Springer episode, the end result would be the original Grunk Rock (hence the name, Grunk Rock Hooligans). Take that, and add the influence of metal and reggae, then you have the current Grunk Rock sound.

That sound allows Permanent Ascent to vary their musical set at any given show through any of the component styles. It's not uncommon to hear some metal-esque songs coupled with some strongly punk driven songs, coupled with some reggae born songs, all in one set! All brought to you in an energy level and a stage performance which will make you question your sanity, though only briefly before you succumb to the overwhelming-ness of it all (if that's even a word). The songs Permanent Ascent presents on myspace are a testament to their diversity in music. If you've only heard one, click on another. You'll be in for a treat. I promise.

Permanent Ascent has been in the music scene in the Northern Virginia area for just over three years. For the last two, Permanent Ascent has been in the regional scene, completing our first tour and releasing our Hooligan EP. Having played with bands ranging from the Misfits to Authority Zero and Whole Wheat Bread, Permanent Ascent has put it's multi-genre abilities to work. If you, like us, have the attention span of a flea, and thus require more than one musical style to stay entertained for an hour. And if, like us, you find Oasis troublesome and annoying, you should definitely be at our show. We'll all hang out, have some beers, rock out, and talk smack about Oasis and Good Charlotte. It'll be great.

In conclusion, come to our shows and buy our stuff. You'll own more stuff (always good) and we'll be able to continue making songs that are absolutely nothing like pop music.
