The Funkmnkyz were born in a basement in Burke, VA and struck out in August 2006 as a solidified five-piece hip-hop/funk/metal/blues/jazz/ambient/hard rock band hungry for live shows and crowds. The quintet has played various venues in VA, DC, MD including T.T. Reynolds, 9:30 club, Merriweather Post Pavillion, Jammin Java, The State Theatre, Velvet lounge sharing the stage with many artists including Naughty by Nature, Billy Idol, Presidents of the United States of America, Third Eye Blind, Lit, Fuel and many more.
