I was stunned to find out Jim Hall passed away a couple months ago. He was simply legendary and I wish I had more time to prepare a proper tribute. 'The Girl From East 9th Street' is one of my favorite Paul Desmond compositions, and I was surprised it hasn't been uploaded onto youtube before. The Paul Desmond/Jim Hall sessions are some of my favorites.. Jim's solo at 2:57 is not the most mind-blowing, in-your-face, rapid-fire solo; rather it is deliberate, calculated, and delivered with restraint, so that each note has its logical place, and allows the listener to fill in the gaps. This is Jim Hall's trademark genius.
