The Paul Rose Band - Man Of Mystery - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 27, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
I love this number for so many reasons, like the absolutely wonderful tune, or the fact that it is constructed around the most simple of major/minor/major chord changes. And not forgetting the nostalgia, as kids in Newcastle in the 70's we were brought up on the Shadows and Hank Marvin was a clean role model, and we're not just talking guitar tone here, you know what I mean..? Personally, I would give anything to have written this, but only being able to play it is a welcome consolation.

Recorded in the dining room of a friends guest house near Glasgow at a "top secret location". The backing tracks and lead guitar are absolutely live. With just a few little embellishments added later in my Newcastle studio, like the rhythm guitar and sixties style harpsichord. Our good friend Ted McKenna joined us for a cup of tea during the session and ended up getting roped in to doing the hand claps with us.

Recorded, produced, mixed, filmed and edited by Paul Rose.

Paul Rose - guitar & keyboards
Jim Drummond - drums.
Kenny Hutchison - bass
Ted McKenna - cameo hand claps
