Paul Carter plays what has become known as acoustic punk.A sound that can't be described, you've just got to hear it for yourself.

Paul first got into punk at the age of 14, after seeing 'the Adverts' on TOTP performing 'Gary Gilmore's Eyes'.

By 1978, Paul and a couple of mates had formed a crappy band which changed its name every day and all fell out with each other by 1979.

By the end of 1980, Paul had done his first gig, playing guitar for 'Ammunition' at their one and only gig at Quarndon Church Hall. The drummer didn't turn up, so the gig was done without him, and 'Ammunition' split up straight after.

In 1981 Paul had formed 'Syndicate Anarchy' with a few mates. Songs were written, rehearsals were had and that's as far as it went.

Then, a year later, Paul had joined Derby band 'The Collaborators'. That was his most successful band to date, managing 4 gigs playing guitar for them, before splitting up in early 1983.

Not to be deterred by the failure of yet another band, Paul joined 'Avoid' in mid-1983 as rhythm guitarist and towards the end of the year, when the singer left, became lead vocallist.

Paul spent until 1992 as the 'Avoid' singer, playing gigs all over England, including two gigs at 'The 100 Club', and support to 'English Dogs' on their 'Invasion of the porky men' tour.

Between 1992 and 1998 Paul spent a lot of his time practising his guitar to try and become half-decent at it and, in the summer of '98, played his first solo gig at the 'Sitwell Tavern', as part of Derby 'Punx Picnic'. It was only meant to be a one-off, but it went down so well that he decided to carry on.

Since then, Paul has been writing new songs and regularly playing gigs around Britain, supporting such bands/people as '999', 'Splodgenessabounds', Ed Tudorpole, T.V. Smith, 'U.K. Subs', '3CR','Leftover Crack','John Otway' and others, and has played HITS/Wasted Punk Festival 4 times.

In September 2003 he recorded his first CD, 'I hate work', containing 6 tracks ('I hate work', 'Putrid', 'I wanna be a skater punk', 'visit to the porno shop', 'in a minute' and 'the drinking song').400 copies of this were pressed and has now sold out.(Re-released in 2007 as part of the 'MIDDLEGROUND 3' compilation album)

In April 2005 he recorded 17 tracks for the 'OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER' album (still a few available through 'Punk Shit Records') and in July 2008 he recorded the 15 track album,'I'M MORE PUNK THAN YOU' and is now constantly gigging to promote the album.
