A ballad with words written by Scottish songwriter Jim McLean in 1963 to the tune of The Mist Covered Mountains. Often described as a lullaby but in reality more of a tortured lament - documenting a woman's grief, bewilderment and anger during the Highland Clearances, which took place throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Scottish people were forced to emigrate be it through politics, the greed of others or starvation.
