The Karate Kid has to be in the top 100 films of all time, for so many reasons, but not least of all for manifesting with great clarity a dream so many young men have and so few realise, or even realise they have: to have a mentor they can truly admire, respect, and learn from. It reaches into the soul of boyhood, and of manhood. And you can never watch it too many times!
