Mark Thompson,A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 07, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
A beautiful instrumental version of this lovely tune (Lyrics printed below). Mark Thomson plays the Yamaha EL-90 organ at the Bonington Theatre, Arnold, Nottingham on 7 Jan 2014 for Nottingham Organ Society. Mark has just completed 60 sell out performances as Musical Director and Keyboard player for the Pantomime "Robin Hood" at the Gala Theatre, Durham. He and his colleagues play at the Newcastle United ground before the home games. This is his third performance at the Bonington Theatre and the audience enjoyed his varied programme. I am grateful that Mark has given permission for most of his concert to be loaded to YouTube. Michael Parkinson
That certain night, the night we met
There was magic abroad in the air
There were angels dining at the Ritz
And a nightingale sang in Berkeley Square

I may be right, I may be wrong
But I'm perfectly willing to swear
That when you turned and smiled at me
A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square

The moon that lingered over London town
Poor puzzled moon, he wore a frown
How could he know we two were so in love
The whole darned world seemed upside down

The streets of town were paved with stars
It was such a romantic affair
And as we kissed and said good-night
A nightingale sang
A nightingale sang
I know 'cause I was there
That night in Berkeley Square
