Gboyega 'Papa Gee' Akerele is a Singer/song writer, drummer/percussionist, and saxophonist born in Nigeria in West Africa. Has over 18 long years of experience especially in West-African Rhythms. He creates a special, magical/therapeutic moment whenever he performs either with a group or as solo act.

Boye has taught the art of African drums (Djembe) with style and passion in Belgium where he lived for 6 years (1997-2003) to students mainly Europeans some of whom are now teachers themselves. Boye as a drummer played, toured and recorded with such groups as Proyecto Secreto a 12-piece renowned Reggae/Ska band based in Belgium. Also performed as a drummer with the group Kaiiman-a 4 piece desert blues/Afro-jazz band also based in Belgium. Drummed some with Feso-Trombone's 8-piece Afro-Jazz band also in Belgium. (Feso-Trombone was the valve trombonist for the late Fela-Kuti).

Boye's talents took him to different podiums and festivals in Belgium as well as all over Europe. He has featured on the Djembe and Congas with such group as Akwaaba (a Ghanaian percussion group) one of Belgiums leading percussion groups, has also featured as a soloist with other percussion groups in Belgium and the Republic of Ireland.

Boye formed Odura Afro Jazz band in 1999. Odura in Yoruba (one of the main languages spoken in Nigeria) is synonymous with the rainbow. An 8- piece band with own songs played in major cafes, cities and main festivals in Belgium and Holland. Odura African Jazz Band performed at the big stage in the 'Gentse feesten' 1999-a festival of world Culture. It was a huge success.

'Boye moved to the Rep. Of Ireland in January 2004 and Studied Music performance/sound technology at the Kylemore College in Dublin where he was awarded a FETAC level 5 certificate in Music performance & Sound technology in May/June 2005. Boye has Higher National Diploma in Media Production and Music/Events Management from Balyfermot College of Further Education in Dublin-Ireland, He is also a graduate with B.A (Hons) in Music Entertainment and Arts Management from Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe, United Kingdom.

His long years of experience as a freelance musician in different bands both in Nigeria and Europe inspired him into introducing a new and fresh sound in the Irish Jazz scene. After over 1 year of living in Drogheda-Ireland and musically active, Boye formed Colours Afro-beat Orchestra with friends and fellow musicians. After 3-months of intensive rehearsals, the band was ready to hit the stage with their music-if its groovy, if its Jazzy, that is Afro-beat!

Colours Afro-beat Foundation (CAb Foundation) combines all the colours in the traditional West-African music from the 60s in a compact modern form. Colours Afro-beat Foundation was formerly launched at the Drogheda Arts Centre in April 2005 with support and cooperation of the Arts office of the Drogheda Borough council, Drogheda Partnerships, the society of St. Vincent de-Paul and the Drogheda Arts Centre-It was a success. Since the band's launching Boye and the CAb Foundation has played pub gigs and also performed with His 12 piece multi-national formation at the Samba festival in July 2005. 'Boye and his Colours Afrobeat Foundations also played the Main stage at the Dun-Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures 2006-It was also a huge success.
