DESCRIPTION:
This video try-out consists of improvisations, pieces and adaptations from the band members with the exception of Mr. Bungle’s “Ars Moriendi” and some Senegal rhythms.

MONG means ‘dream’ in Chinese, although it also means a lot of other things too (if you google it, you will find a Chinese minority race till a spastic person).

We improvise every day, in situations, in talking. I believe the point where we improvise from,the source where we take ideas, and react, are from a deep innerspace. We do the best, and as for musicians, we improvise the best when we don’t think, but just feel and enjoy what comes out naturally…

MONG was een fris jong collectief van improviserende muzikanten, samengebracht door toetseniste Pak Yan Lau. 4 uitgesproken identiteiten met elk hun unieke achtergronden en invloeden, smelten samen in een bonte mix die meer is dan de som van de delen. Een greep uit hun kleurenpalet omvat soundscapes, kinderliedjes, minimal, breakbeat, free-jazz, pop en dansmuziek. Mongs natuurlijke drang om te exploreren resulteerde al in inspirerende samenwerkingen met dansers en videokunstenaars.

MONG, que significa “soñar” en Cantonés era un cuarteto musical con el deseo de fusionar diferentes disciplinas como la música, la danza y el arte audiovisual.
Su rango musical abarca diferentes estilos que van desde clásico, jazz, world music, abstracto, minimalismo, experimental, soundscapes, pop, drum´n bass … pero siempre con un giro … inesperado, natural; tan impredecible o predecible como nuestra propia naturaleza humana, que sueña y vive.
