P-1 creates a delicious live blend of Chicago soul and New York dance, with an ear to the rhythms of the world. Described as "Chill out meets Miles Davis on the dance floor" P-1's debut album STEP (NoVo/Lightyear/WEA) was labeled a "breath of fresh air in today's international dance scene." DJs and fans embraced P-1's funky album catapulting their signature hit "P-1 GROOVE" to top five radio play in Chicago, New York, Detroit and a 1 in Washington DC.

Story bound lyrics beautifully sung by the sexy siren B.A. Arentsen surround the grooves with substance and wit. The Latin tinged getaway story song "VESPA" (see video) spent 32 weeks on mix show charts and along with the Giuseppe D remix of "ONE TRY" is still a dance club staple. Additional songs from the debut album STEP can be heard on satellite radio and in retail stores and hipster eateries throughout the US.

P-1's second album POWER(Forever Soul/NoVo, distributed through 3MD/RYKO/WMG) pushed their soulful dance grooves to new heights. "POWER" features "LADRONA" a duo with infamous gossip blogger Perez Hilton who not only appears as a guest vocalist, but posted P-1's music twice on his popular site. P-1's music can also be heard in film and television, including "WISTERIA" featured in the Fox/Searchlight Film Trust The Man and "DIGITAL LOVER" featured in an episode of ABC's hit comedy "Samantha Who?"

Look out for more music from P-1 in '09.

PERSONNEL:

P-1 live features the seductive vocals of front woman B.A. Arentsen, the trippy guitar and groovin' beats of Steve "Funkworm" Butler, pounding bass of Tim Deuchler, trumpet genius of Ron Haynes (Lenny Kravitz, Liquid Soul), with jazzy keys and percussion.

What PopMatters.com had to say about P-1:

.

In the yet-to-be-corporatized neighborhood of Manhattan’s Lower East Side stands the Pink Pony, a French café/bistro-cum-refuge for artists and writers. The music of Miles Davis, the Shirelles, the Doors, St. Germain, and Prince wafts above the bread and wine, appealing to the taste of just about anyone who walks through the door. This type of eclecticism also informs the music of P-1. Steve Perry is blasting from the speakers when Beth-Anne Arentsen, lead singer of P-1, walks into the Pink Pony on a balmy August evening, eager to discuss P-1’s new album, Power.

Before continuing any further, you might wonder, “What/who is P-1 and why should I care?” P-1 is a cross-genre “groove” band based in both Chicago and New York City. Three multi-instrumentalists form the core of the band, and an extended family of other musicians embellish their grooves on recordings and in concert. Just below the radar of mainstream, P-1 is about to rise from the underground with their second album, Power. Melding jazz, house, Latin, reggae, and pop, the band members know no boundaries, and it is this quality that makes P-1 a band to watch."Christian John Wikane for PopMatters.com
