Columbus Kings: Episode 3 - Copywrite - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 14, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Peter Nelson (also known as Copywrite) has a long lineage in Columbus Hip Hop's history. From the early day's at Bernie's to MegaHertz' latest and first official album, Nelson began his musical journey as the quintessential High Street kid and learned from the godfathers of Columbus' urban culture heads.

An original and founding member of the notorious MHz crew, Copywrite has been around and has seen the urban culture of Ohio's capital city evolve. Forming an original group of numerous emcees, vocalists, deejays and producers during the mid-90s, Copy and MHz narrowed down their infamous clique to five official members by the new millennium. Early on, the group caught the attention of Hot 97's Bobbito Garcia and even the well-known R&B group Boyz 2 Men.

Copywrite released his debut album, T.H.E. High Exhaulted in 2002, an effort combined with pervious years of success (particularly with "Holier Than Thou" in 2000 and MHz' "World Premier" single in 1998) had Copy and his crew receiving critical acclaim nationally.

A heavily influential member of the underground Hip Hop collective The Weathermen, Copywrite's versatility as a rapper spread beyond the realms of his solo and crew work. The group showcased some of Hip Hop music's top crop in the independent scene during the late 90s and early 2000s.

2010 saw the release of Copy's second LP release, The Life and Times of Peter Nelson, a follow up of 2009's Ultrasound: The Rebirth EP. The two projects re-established Nelson's acclaim as a thoroughbred spitter and one of the best in the Midwest.

Copy recently released his latest solo album, God Save the King in February 2012. The album heavily marked Nelson's shift from hard, dark and raunchy lyrics to those of reflection and greater whit. 2012 also saw the release of MHz' official debut album, MHz Legacy, and the first group release since the passing of member Camu Tao. The project was very well received in the Hip Hop world and further carried on the legacy of the legendary Columbus clique.
