Reviews

-HardcoreSounds:

"[.]Obscurus Advocam still slays, but more importantly mixes things up enough to give black metal a needed dose of the new".

-SeaOfTranquility:

"[.]Despite the presence of blast beats, cold atmosphere, and bleak arrangements, it's not all chilling black metal on Verbia Daemonicus. The title track unleashes waves of intoxicating guitar riffs and blazing drum blasts at the listener while tortured growls tantalize your senses from all angles".

-Deadtide:

"[.]Along the lines of genre development, perhaps the cover art can be interpereted as something in bloom. Something organic, blossoming very much like the music within the disc. Obscurus Advocam present an unordinary creation that is traditionally uncompromising, yet showing successful progress. This has greatly changed my view on the potential of black metal".

-Heathen Harvest:

"[.]Unlike so many other black metal projects coming out of the seemingly chaotic rush of labels seeking to make money off of the current trend, Obscurus Advocam not only displays incredible amounts of talent and musicianship, but also push the boundaries of melodic guitar work in black metal itself to a more rock-oriented style, while most nowadays black metal can seemingly find itself sounding rooted close to punk".

-Blodårstid:

"[.]The mix is loud and almost pristinely crisp, thus retaining a great deal of clarity, so the dense bass tone always has a home resting just behind the guitars, and the drumming sounds absolutely awesome - maintaining all of the natural warmth it requires. [.] The feeling, atmosphere, and emotion are undeniably all in place - so much so that some of the instrumental tracks are actually among my favorites herein! An interesting journey from start to finish, this really is a strikingly strong release that will likely be a tough one for the rest of the genre to challenge in 2007, even being so early in the year. Excellent work."
