LOOMER 69 - Self-Titled - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 30, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
Here’s another batch of somber, lackadaisical melodies homebrewed by a guy up in NWI, Jose Vela. As with his previous “With Songs” tape, it’s not hard for me to find something worth appreciating here when the sounds at hand are just so innocuous and pure; I find that organ and toy xylophone in the background of “Constant Space” is pretty endearing in particular. This – what I assume to be “self-titled” – tape is nothing short of just that: endearing. Regardless of whether or not you find the entirety of Vela’s experimentation to be cohesive or engaging, it’s definitely a prime candidate for anyone in need of some more lo-fi, casual-listening pop tunes to fuel the never-ending stream of sadness and uncertainty that surely plagues your life. Or maybe I’m just projecting, I don’t know.

Putting this video together was a lot more complicated than I had anticipated. Barring the absence of a tape cover that Vela SAID he’d send me (he never did), the Google Drive link that he provided also had two other songs that aren’t present in the video he’s already uploaded onto his channel. Not only that, but the song at the end of the video, “White Hairy Wave”, wasn’t even included in the Drive link to begin with. So, essentially, I have nine different Loomer 69 songs for a tape that’s only 7 tracks. To play it safe, I just chose to uploaded an edited take on Vela’s video, with the exact same track list and an a static image. I’ll include those two other songs in the download link later if Vela ever gives me the okay for it; like the rest, they’re perfectly bittersweet and well-worth a listen. Otherwise, this'll have to do.
