Nikki Hurst, a band formed in 2003 in Vancouver BC, can be described in one word : eclectic.

From the beginning, Nikki Hurst has been combining rock, pop, jazz, metal, classical, and operatics to create a sound all their own. The music this band creates cannot be labeled as each member comes from a different school of music. When this group writes, the end products are indescribable, and that in itself, is an accomplishment. Nikki Hurst is nothing less than original, creating music like no other. Nikkis pop melodies layered over the Fleetwood Mac-inspired guitar licks and solid rhythmic under lays come together forming sonic perfection.

Nikki herself, former front-woman of the band Superchild, and keyboard player from The Vincent Black Shadow (HRMR /Bodog Music), was introduced to R. Wade, drummer extraordinaire (Flybanger, Columbia Records), in mid 2003. The two clicked immediately and decided to start a music project together. R. brought in Alex Roque shortly thereafter, a dynamic singer/guitar player from the band Gladyss Patches (N Focus). The three immediately started working together, writing songs and four-tracking demos. It was obvious that something special had come into fruition, and the band decided to take the next step, and complete the project with a second guitarist and bass player.

Alex introduced his new friends to a former band mate from Gladyss Patches. Cam Jarvis, the very talented bass player who was itching to make a change in his musical career. He joined the group as the second guitar player, and shortly thereafter, Cam himself brought in a friend, Greg Hutton, who played bass at Cams side in A New Hope. Greg completed the line up. Nikki Hurst was then ready in full to take over the local music scene.

Nikki and the boys started to produce song after song and decided that they needed to professionally record their creations. In late 2003, the band recorded their first demo at Green House studios. They then continued to write and demo until they had enough songs for a full length cd, which they chose to record with Jay Van Poederooyen throughout 2004.

For the most part, 2004 and most of 2005 were spent writing, gigging, and exposing themselves to the public. Playing local pubs, and festivals including Wake West 2004 really started a buzz for Nikki Hurst. In mid 2005, the band started to put together songs for the Pretty Pieces EP, working exclusively with Tim Neuhaus at EarArt Studios in Delta BC. These songs starting grabbing the attention of listeners everywhere. They entered Ernie Balls Battle Of The Bands in the spring of 2005 and won a spot on Warped Tour. Since then, this band has been the talk of the town. Their fan base has tripled, they have created a live show that is un-stoppable, and the music is getting regular air play during the Indie Hours of local radio stations.

Currently Nikki Hurst is getting ready to conquer yet another full length record, again with Tim Neuhaus. It is set to be released some time in 2006.

This band is a burning ring of fire. If one falls in, they rarely get out, and then again, why would they want to?
