Lawrence, KS to San Francisco, CA transplant, Nezbeat, has a new project out called Songs In the Key of Break Your Fucking Neck. While Nez has been living in California for what seems like at least a couple of years now, him and iD grew the Archetype group out of LK and solidified themselves as probably Lawrence's most notable local hip hop act. Over those years, Nezbeat has never been one to shy away from strange beats. This new bandcamper is pretty damn good, and specifically runs in the alley of those who are into such beat projects. Personal favorites on this new record include the electronic-dub type joints, "Pharaoh" and "Underground Roots". Why Nezbeat is not more of a household name in the electronic beat scene, I couldn't really tell you. But this record is a fantastic display of hip hop, dub, funk and electronic beats via an Ensoniq ASR-10, Pro Tools, Abelton Live, MS-2000 and Technics 1200s. You really can't go wrong with new Nezbeat music.
