Story:
Although unexceptional in quality relative to Earth minerals, proximity to the burgeoning Jupiter colonies have turned mining operations on Mars into powerful interstellar assets.

In early 2128 The Interplanetary Money Fund rescinds The Halton Act of 2078, which established independent mineral claims on Mars free of central bank oversight.

This sets the stage of the bank's hostile consolidation of over 7000 vacuum sealed mines, many operated by descendants of the original colonists.

The fertile Mars River Delta region relies less upon the central bank for subsidized ore production, and with the Halton Act's repeal balks at further interference from bank overseers.

With demand for Martian ore at all-time highs the IPMF and central bank are motivated to eliminate the independent mining operations scattered over the Delta region.
