MARIA NAZOS -
Poet, translator, and lyrical essayist Maria Nazos is the author of two collections of poetry: Still Life, (Dancing Girl Press, 2016), and A Hymn That Meanders (2011 Wising Up Press). She received her MFA in Writing from Sarah Lawrence College. She is currently a doctoral candidate and Great Plains Fellow studying English and specializing in Ethnic Studies and Women's and Gender Studies at The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she teaches poetry and creative writing workshops and serves as the Graduate Assistant to Ted Kooser's American Life in Poetry column.
Her poetry and translations are published or forthcoming in The New Yorker, TriQuarterly, The Denver Quarterly, The Mid-American Review, American Life in Poetry, The Greensboro Review, The North American Review, Subtropics, The Tampa Review, Drunken Boat, The Florida Review, The Southern Humanities Review, The New Ohio Review, Tupelo Quarterly, and elsewhere.
Her work has received an The Academy of American Poets Award, scholarships from The Sewanee Writers' Conference, The Santa Fe Art Institute, The Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center, The Squaw Valley Community of Writers, and fellowships from the University of Nebraska, The Vermont Studio Center and The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
