NASA Space Universe is probably the weirdest of the bands playing "hardcore" in SoCal these days. Fortunately, the weird is good in this case, as they're also one of the most interesting of said bands. I suppose when they started they played a slightly sassier style of hardcore akin to Die Kreuzen, but they've come a long way since then. People still peg them as Die Kreuzen-worship, and that's certainly a flattering comparison, but I also find it to be pretty lazy if you've heard more than five seconds of their newer material, which has a far more psychedelic sound to it.

Things are far more bizarre on their tour 12", Ice, which some fans have counted as a blessing, others a curse. "Peeping Toddler/Holy Methography" is the perfect example of where this band is (hopefully) going. It's got one of their best riffs driving the song for its five minute duration. It's definitely the best song here and is a fairly good indication of what's to come on the rest of this EP. If anything, this record is worth checking out for the incredible guitar playing.

I'm excited to see where this band of degenerates goes from here. I did really enjoy their last LP, but I think they're taking things into a higher realm. Also, big ups to the band for improving their song titles, which were one of the main reasons it took me so long to check them out in the first place. GET INTO IT.
