Cell Phone - Original Song by Andy Miller - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 16, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
This is the only real song I've ever written. Thought I would share it with you.

I knew Esther since 4th grade and had a massive crush on her in high school and college (that's what I get for wearing my heart constantly on my sleeve). After we exchanged email addresses at a class reunion in 2004, we kept in touch. My wife left me in 2007, right around the time Esther's husband left her and we became close friends through the internet and, as 2008 began, over the phone. She would call me on her cell phone while she was walking her dog, Buttons, in the evenings. We talked about everything. We were each other's support through that difficult time and, during it, my feelings for her grew and grew.

This song was written for her on May 2, 2008, and put to music a short time after that. It's about our phone calls. They helped me through a terribly difficult time. I miss her.

A special thanks to Hania Zdunek, who's amazing singing inspired to put my own song on YouTube. Go check out her channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheHaniaShow

Lyrics:

Cell Phone

Your words of wisdom strong and clear
Across a thousand miles of air
They ease my pain and calm my fear
And make me wish that you were here.

With talk of love and food and beer,
You're walking and I'm in your ear.
You fill my life with fun and cheer
And make me feel like you are near.

You're sweet and kind.
You're on my mind.
Cell phones aligned.
Best friend of mine.

The bunnies bound, the kitties flee
While Buttons stops to take a pee
And you describe it all to me
While I partake though absentee.

The stars are out and Luna shines
Orange when Earth and moon combine.
Dwelling on hope, and fear, and time,
My spunky, sparkly, true lifeline.

You're sweet and kind.
You're on my mind.
Cell phones aligned.
Best friend of mine.

Gobbstoppers, Twix, marshmallows, Nerds,
Butterscotch cookies, things absurd,
Hugs and underwear, memories blurred,
Prolific advise, so kind words.

Daily routines and doodles profound,
You're there for me when I break down.
Laughter, poetry, lost thoughts found,
I'll take the blame for all your frowns.

You're sweet and kind.
You're on my mind.
Cell phones aligned.
Best friend of mine.

Squalling Squaw, Chief Shallogaloo
Bright Yellow Sun and White Moon too
David and Rachel part of that crew
Fire pits, iron chefs, and you.

Kisses in ballet and basketball,
Lightsaber bubbles, Yoda's drawl.
One and all a part of each call.
Taste of your life from big to small.

You're sweet and kind.
You're on my mind.
Cell phones aligned.
Best friend of mine.

There's oh-so much more that we discuss
Little lost secrets we entrust
Like throwing yourself right under the bus
Somehow both of us adjust.

I'd like to keep your grief at bay,
Hold you 'til your pain just goes away.
We've just the cell until that day.
Somehow I think we'll be okay.

Til then I'll love your honesty,
Your caring, your transparency,
Your blessedness, your bravery
And most of all your integrity.

Until that somehow, sometime when
You will see me in love again
With five foot one, one hundred ten
Caring eyes, my forever friend.

You're sweet and kind.
You're on my mind.
Cell phones aligned.
Best friend of mine.

I apologize for my hair. I really need a haircut.
