DESCRIPTION:
This amazing film is the result of a collaboration between Martin Pickles and Mikey Georgeson for the launch of the new single 'Curtains of Zagra' by Mikey Georgeson & The Civilised Scene out on pop-Z on Monday 21st April 2014.

Riding the coincidental trail that swept them along Mikey and Martin conceived the film as a unconscious audio visual voyage. "We met over a four month period at the BFI discussing stuff like Jung's Man and his Symbols and Vladimir Propp's theories of the morphology of the folk tale" said Mikey. "We came to a point one day when we both arrived at our regular meeting with the idea of developing a plot". The plot is the same one you get in every story. Joseph Campbell calls this The Hero with a Thousand Faces. He describes it thus "A hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of supernatural wonder: fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won: the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on his fellow man." In our film the hero sets off on a quest one morning and is diverted into underworld. Here he retrieves a magical facial growth which he intuits must be returned to its seat of origin.The song is a paean to those bold enough to venture into their own personal underworld and return with "boons" for the rest of us.
