"Ah, now this is more like it! Its not actually like much of what you normally find and hear, and it isnt always gripping, but the music Zsephyr Lyre and Marco Macabre (possibly a pseudonym) make is nothing less that than the collision of their minds, which is what you want from people. They take thin layers of sound and then shake them, attacking with vibrant vocals, or moody guitar. There are brisk, churning rhythms, but this isnt necessarily left-field Industrial. Its something else."

-Mick Mercer=========================================

"Yeah, kinda creepy, making Rasputina sound pretty poppy. My favorite song is the pitch-shifted "Big Crunch," which sounds like a normal song played on a cassette player with the batteries dying in fits and spurts. If Christina Ricci had a band, it'd be Mortal Clay."-LollipopMagazine=======================================

"Mortal Clay's music is heavily rhythmic and decidedly left-field, in an inventive, individualistic, style that doesn't tip its hat overmuch to any particular set of generic conventions. It pulls in fragments of folk, elements of industrial. There are strange sweeps of electronics and interludes of neo-classical ambience followed by outbreaks of pumelling drums. Guitar feeds in and out, voices come and go. It's organic and flowing, staccato and technology-driven. If they have folk clubs in the future, this is the stuff that you will hear therein."-Nemesis To Go=========================

The music from this band is extremely hard to describe. They delve into the dark, eerie goth of the 90's and span the genre from one end of the spectrum to the other similar to Switchblade Symphony in the days of Serpentine Gallery including some crunching, guitar driven tracks and ranging to the introspective ethereal soundscapes. They capitalize on the unique and spookey nature of things."

-Gothic Paradise=======================================

"Mortal Clay on this release,(Unseen Element) consists of Lyre and Macabre as a duo. This is a very earnest and theatrical band when they perform live. Lyre has a very wide range of vocal styles. During one song she seems to be channeling Siousxie Sioux and then during the next song her sound reminds me of Hazel OConner (of Breaking Glass fame.)."

-Azrael Racek=============================================

"You don't come across an album like this everyday,(Procession of Spectres). This kind of work comes from two incredibly creative and gifted musicians and artists. The music and lyrics draw you in and are very haunting. A truly provocative and memorable masterpiece!"

-mollysad============================================

"Mortal Clay, were eerie-cute goths, adorably complex like Lenore or a Dame Darcy drawing."
