formed in 1999 by c.norris, fraqtured : sound set out to experiment with a different brand of electronic and industrial music, the focus being the fusion of the two seemingly opposite extremes of mechanical and organic. the material incorporated harsh electronic arrangements, dark rhythmic ambiance, complex structures and transitions, and over time matured into a sound that is defined by melancholic, sorrowful string and pad textures, layered with twisting electronic soundscapes.

starting out with all analog hardware, the first instrumental recordings were all committed direct to tape in single takes, and released as the now extremely rare and out of print album entitled "program one"

by 2002 the 2 albums "the soundscapes of the of the forgotten" and "creare" saw the incorporation of computer based sequencing and programming, in addition to hard disc recording, which dramatically changed the overall dynamic of the music, and gave fractured : sound the ability to experiment with post production editing, and a higher quality mastering process.

in 2005 "architecture" was released and became the first fraqtured : sound album that was available for distribution, and shipped to an international audience. the release marked not only the full transition from analog to digital composition, and recording, but also the introduction of the music into club playlists around the globe.

in 2007 the release of "the end of all things" coincided with fraqtured : sounds opening performance at the convergence 13 festival in portland oregon. the album developed, and built upon the approach that "architecture" took and ultimately represented the second half of a 5 year long period of song writing. the album was met with high critical acclaim, and saw a much broader international popularity with audiences and DJ's. the album shipped to countries across the globe, and saw very positive press, numerous reviews by highly regarded music publications and websites, in addition to steady rotation in clubs, and on radio stations. the album incorporates a wide range of styles and influences from classical, IDM, glitch, ebm, techno, trance, industrial, ambient, and experimental and is easily the most diverse album to date in terms of the overall scope, and dynamic of each track, and the album as a whole.

currently the new album "a new moon" is in production, and will mark the first release to feature a collection of remixes from some of chris's favorite artists, as well as friends and bands that he has worked with over the years from a wide variety of backgrounds. it is currently slated for a 2011 release date, available internationally in a wide variety of formats.
