Moondog Coronation Ball - Part 1 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 01, 2017
DESCRIPTION:
This music playlist video is sort of a reenactment of Alan Freed's original Moondog Coronation Ball scheduled at the Cleveland Arena on March 21st, 1952. The show was stopped just as it was getting started and it became the world's first rock and roll concert that was never to be.

The playlist is compiled from recordings of the five acts that were supposed to perform that night. The acts include Paul Williams Hucklebuckers, Tiny Grimes Rockin' Highlanders, The Dominoes featuring Billy Ward, Varetta Dillard and Danny Cobb.

Show MC and deejay Alan Freed also appears on the sound track.

Most of these artists went on to have successful careers and some of the song selections may not be from the exact time period of the show but they all have that early 1950s Rock and Roll sound.

We hope the track recreates the vibe and spirit of the cancelled show.
