The Model A trumpet has become one of the most popular of S.E. Shires instruments because of its brilliant and singing sound, effortless projection and ease of response in all registers. The The Model A features a medium large .459” bore with a one-piece hand hammered yellow brass bell with a traditionally braised bottom seam and also a standard brass bead wire. The placement of the bead and the brass wire allow for soaring projection and brilliance of sound that S.E. Shires is known for. All Model A trumpets feature a maker’s mark and beautiful floral engraving.

The Model A trumpet also features a WH leadpipe, which is a free and open blowing leadpipe offering a well defined slot and very easy response in all registers. Its free blowing character perfectly compliments the centered A bell taper. The leadpipe is paired with the very popular W tuning slide which is a yellow brass dual radius bent tuning slide. Nickel balusters and nickel valve caps add to the strong sound while the metal valve guides inside the pistons add additional clarity and immediacy to the very front end of the articulation. The Model A trumpet is also available with an optional heavyweight bell (A HW model) and includes S.E. Shires premium carrying case and mouthpiece.
