DESCRIPTION:
The cultural association of people descending from the village of Agio Pnevma in Serres that live in Thessaloniki released last year two CDs with traditional songs of the Darnakohoria region in Serres.The songs are performed by the choir of the association and i think they deserve a great bravo for their effort.The lyrics of the songs are mainly in the local dialect (even though in many instances standard Greek is used as well and i guess this happens because it was more suitable for maintaining the meter),so i provide a "translation" of the most unintelligible to a standard Greek speaker words and expressions.

*iman=a variant of "imoun"(i was) frequently used in Macedonian and other northern Greek dialects.
*grammena=although this word literally means "written" (plural,neut.) it's used in this context with the meaning of "painted","well-painted","well drawn"
*yia ti mena=an idiomatism frequently used in some Macedonian and Thracian dialects instead of standard για μένα/gia mena (for me)
*μαγιουλές/mayioules=bombast,bombastic language
