Milkweed - My Dying Dollar - Tiny Desk Concert Contest Submission - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 29, 2017
DESCRIPTION:
Milkweed is thrilled to take part in NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Contest. We made a funny little public access like set in our living room and performed our song 'My Dying Dollar'. Many thanks to Stephen Schweitzer who helped us with the camera work. And of course our gratitude to Abe for agreeing to be part of our submission. And most of all, thanks to Bob and the NPR crew for inspiring thousands of folks across the country to take some time and come together to create music and celebrate the best parts of American culture, its uniqueness, its low budget charm, and its ability to dream out loud. The lyrics to 'My Dying Dollar' are posted below for anyone interested. Much love from Milkweeds little corner of the world.

- My Dying Dollar -

Out on the highway,
Venice to LA,
cooking up hollow dimes.

Used to be a rock band,
now it's a fruit stand
where are the full hearts now?

Tennessee, sing a lonely song for me
Chicago, let them Cadillacs drive slow

Holy roller,
looking for God in all the wrong places
we got a small world now.

Spend the Peso's,
driving by the wall down in El Paso.
The good book floats down stream,
if you know what I mean.

The nights get so long,
them old folks seemed so strong.
Where is the old growth now?

Used to have field hands,
Georgia peaches in a Yankee can,
trading up the Indigo coast.

New Orleans,
West Texas on a railroad dream,
Colorado and the great divide.

New York City with your lights ablaze,
we all fell in love with the world under the Hollywood haze
and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Tennessee, sing a lonely song for me
Chicago, let them Cadillacs drive slow

Holy roller,
looking for God in all the wrong places
we got a small world now.

Spend the Peso's,
driving by the wall down in El Paso.
The good book floats downstream,
if you know what I mean.

Its been so cold
watching Detroit fold.
Who makes the money round here?

I spend my dollar,
my dying dollar,
the jukebox and the wine.

Good folks ain't hard to find.
